Hi everyone. I have a procedural issue thats cropping up in my 1 to 1sites. lets say we have a middle school with 430 laptops in a one-to-one two grade level approach. Now I propose the use of network printing stations for students to pick up assign…

Hello Rick, Printing is a sizeable challenge for any 1:1. Remember however, the goal for all is to work digitally as much as possible. What we have found that this concept is actually the larger challenge. Our printing costs remain high as teachers…

Hi Everyone, Im a Network Services Supervisor at a District down in Suburban New Orleans( Jefferson Parish Schools.) I dont have an educator background but I have 15yrs in all aspects of k12 delivery and availability of technology. Our district is moving forward on a 4000 laptop, 9 middle/high school 1 to 1program for select grade levels. We only completed a small 2 grade level (6th@ 2schools) this spring and we have basically exploded with hardware. This is rather typical of larger districts with heavy on equipment, light on policy and curriculum approaches to educational achievement. I joined up for the opportunity to interact with others facing 1 to 1 programs and perhaps gather some wisdom from your experiences. thks Rick

Trevor, We are in the 2nd year of our 1:1 pilot. Last year, 8th grade staff at 2 middle schools were given laptops and PD on 1:1. They developed lessons and learned about student centered pedagogy. Initially the pilot was going to provide laptop car…

If your teachers are already doing all of the things you mention in your question, then it seems to me that that the issue may not be so much one of needing to improve practice, but one of changing teacher expectations. What do the teachers mean by…

Sounds interesting Mike. Can you give me a little more information about your school and program, and I will see if there are some opportunities here at DE? We are a PK-12 Independent school located in Bergen County NJ, right outside NYC. We have…
